All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

After all the positive hype that has surrounded this book I wanted to pick it up to see what all the fuss was about.

Violet and Finch are polar opposites and probably would never in a million years have got to know each other. They both are into poetry and writing and this is referenced a lot throughout the book. Finch is suicidal or bi polar and Violet's sister was killed in car accident that Violet blames herself for and together they try to muddle through.

The writing was nice and I enjoyed the double perspective. I liked the wandering that they did together and how the two main characters interacted with each other. At first everything was strange and awkward but eventually it settled into a relationship.

I gave this book a four stars on goodreads because it did make me emotional and I enjoyed the plot a lot however I did have a couple of issues with it. There was a lot to contend with. Bi Polar, suicide, child abuse, neglect, car accidents. I would have liked more time with Violet and Finch but overall the book was beautiful.

Fictional Boyfriend Tag

The Most Romantic Boyfriend:

Edward From Twilight. Even though there is all of the drama going on in the books he is still super lovely to Bella. They lie in the fields and stare into each others eyes. How romantic!!

The Dark & Moody Bad Boy with a Good Side:

Patch from the Hush Hush series. He doesn't give much away in the way of emotions. He is seriously dangerous but he would be able to protect us from all of the baddies. He has a rocking body, a secret apartment and can communicate with people in their dreams. HOT!!

The Paranormal Boyfriend:

Damien from the Lux Series. Hes just amazing. I dont need to say more!

The Boyfriend you Want to Tame:

The Darkling from the Grisha series. He was so appealing in the first book when he was all bad and sexy but still seemed to have a hidden niceness. I wouldn't want to stop him being bad ass just not evil I suppose

The Boy you Friend-Zoned:

Scott from Hush Hush. Some times I like him other times not so much. I think it would be best if we were just great friends.

Your Soulmate:

Four from the divergent series. He is just amazing. He is strong physically and emotionally. He is very nice to looks at i mean Theo James Hello!!. He could save my life! He has a hot tattoo. Do you need more?

The Boyfriend you would Elope with:

Nikolai from the Grisha Series because he is an adventurer as well as an inventor. We would have the best mode of transport and be able to travel wherever took our fancy. He is easy going and charming but also funny so you wouldn't get bored.

Zane from the True Calling Series. He is devoted and loyal but also pretty bad ass. He knows how to stay alive and keep me alive too

Things I've said to my children by Nathan Ripperger

This book was absolutely hilarious I giggled the whole way through.

At 96 pages it is a super speedy read but the art is superb and the things this man has said to his children had me in stitches. Admittedly I do feel very sorry for any animals that live in this household but I enjoyed it a lot.

I gave this book a 5/5 on goodreads it did everything I expected it to do.

From a Distant Star by Karen McQuestion

Who doesnt love a book where the lead character shares your name? Emma was a powerful teen and played the sort of hero to this Novel.

Emma's boyfriend Lucas is dying from cancer and his family have accepted this but not Emma. She is determined to find a way to save him. Miracles happen in the form of Scout, an alien who is stuck on earth after his space ship was shot down. Scout borrows Lucas' body makes him better and tries to get back to his own people. Sound simple? it is not.
It doesnt take Emma and Eric (Lucas' little brother to notice that something is not right and that Lucas is acting pretty strange.
Together Emma and Lucas who is not Lucas but is Scout head out on a road trip to find someone to help them.

I just finished From a distant star and I really liked it. It had eliments that reminded me of Stephane Meyers Host which is one of my all time favourites but it also has its own unique twist on the alien romance. Unlike Host which was a tricky book to get into this story is easy to read and gripping from the very start. Not only is the cover beautiful but the topics covered are dealt with wonderfully too.

We get to view earth from an outsiders point of view and it is wonderful and confusing. If we take note of what Scout learns in his brief time on earth then we could become better people too. For example, Scout questions our need to judge people on appearances and teaches Emma to trust strangers just a little bit more.

We meet a whole range of different characters in this story from a protective mother to a crazy old lady and everything in-between.

Over all I can not fault this novel. I enjoyed it.

May 2015 TBR

I thought I would share with you the books that I plan to read in May.
I get Married this month and also head out on my honeymoon so I am hoping that the flights give me some much needed reading time. I am aiming for 5 or 6 Books.

1. All the bright Places by Jennifer Niven.

I am just under half way through this book at the moment and I am enjoying it. I feel like it has much more to give and so I am hoping that it picks up a little. I went into this book blind but so far it is about two teens who are both having suicidal feelings for different reasons. They have been brought together for a project through school and are slowly getting to know each other. Keep your eye out for my review soon.

2. From A Distant Star by Karen McQuestion

This is another book I am Currently Reading. I was requested this through NetGalley because it has aliens and I love aliens. The cover is so pretty. So far I am loving this story. It is full of hope and adventure. I hope I continue to enjoy it.

3.The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Braken

I have had this sat on my bookshelf for a little while now and so it is about time i give it a go. It sounds like something I would enjoy. Its about a girl named Ruby who is on the run because she has powers. That's all I know.

4. Million Dollar Road by Amy Connor

I requested this book through NetGalley and it seemed like it was a little bit different from the things I normally read I am hoping it makes a refreshing change.

5. Things we have in common by Tasha Kavanagh

This is another NetGalley request and I am not crazy about the cover but I have heard good things so I hope to pick this up this month.

6. Panic by Lauren Oliver

I heard a lot about this but everything seems to have died down about it now. I bought it because it looked good so I hope it is.

Light of a thousand stars (True Calling 2.5) By Siobhan Davis

I am excited every single time I get to read anything new from Siobhan Davis because I know it will be an amazing read and this novella was no different. Similar in style to Love struck we see an snippet of what life was like before Novo for Zane and Ari.

Normally this cover would not be my thing at all however this is exactly what Zane and Ari look like! It sums up their relationship in one perfect picture and the stars over the cover add the mystery. I love all of the other covers and this one fits in beautifully with the others in the series.

The novella has a different feel to it than Love Struck all of the feelings are there but the difference between the two boys is apparent. Cal was trying to play it cool with Ari whereas Zane lets her know how he is feeling always. Reading this Ari acts like a completely different girl. Which of course she would, even though she has something looming over her that she is trying to work out she still has a more carefree attitude that we have not seen before and I hope we get to see a little more of this Ari.
Now is the perfect time to bring in these novellas, I felt like I knew them but I didn't. I had no clue of how Ari and Zane were before she was taken away.

The whole story was bitter sweet, The love between the couple feels real and raw. Its easy to get caught up in their relationship until you are brought back down to the real world remembering what comes next for the pair. I enjoyed getting to read about the interaction between the families, we got to see her dad before Novo and that was interesting.

I am really struggling to pick a team for this crazy love triangle. Until Love Struck I was team Zane but after these two novellas I just don't know. Zane is just so real with his feelings and his actions but Cal sort of has that bad boy gone good feel about him for me. I suppose I will have to wait until the release of Destiny Rising and see if I can make my decision with the next instalment.

At the end of Beyond Reach Ari remembers something and we have not yet discovered what it is but Light of a thousand stars references what it might be keeping that cliff hanger going. I feel like Siobhan has manage to fit so much into this small portion of book that you come away feeling like you have read a full 300+ page novel.

I am so excited for Destiny Rising and I can't wait get get my teeth into the rest of the story.

If you have not started this series yet then why not?? Just do it! I promise you will love it. I do.
